Mona Laskar

Anti-racist Consultant & Therapist

Hi there, I am glad you found your way here. My name is Mona and I am an anti-racist consultant and therapist based in Sweden. I use an intersectional and holistically integrative approach in therapy. This means that I combine different therapeutic modalities to match your unique needs on a mind, body and soul level and have a deep understanding of how injustice across different social dimensions such as racism, genderism, and classism, intersect and create internal challenges. I am here to support you in identifying your challenges and goals in a safe and validating space so that you can heal and thrive in your life. I speak Swedish, Bangla, and English, and offer therapy in these languages

My story

Growing up as a Muslim-Bengali in Sweden, I struggled to be understood and find the support I needed to process my mental health challenges, childhood trauma as well as encounters with racism. When I sought help I was often met with judgement, cultural assumptions and always felt like I had to explain myself. It was like I was not given space to tell my story because it was already told by society. So I felt unsafe, misunderstood and I constantly found myself code-switching trying to mirror the social norms and expectations. After years of studying psychology and grounding myself in my practice, I now understand that healing and liberation cannot truly take place if we are not given the space to show up as our authentic selves. This is central in my practice today.

I believe that you are the expert in your life and that my role as your therapist is to create a safe and validating space where you can show up as your authentic self to find healing and liberation in your life journey. I also continue to decolonise my approach, reflect on my biases, and keep myself informed by evidence-based practice to make my therapy a safer space for you.

Aside from being a therapist, I am an anti-racist consultant and activist. I challenge conventional views of diversity and inclusion on an organisational, societal and global level by unpacking systemic racism and power dynamics to inspire more people to become anti-racist.

With Laskar Consulting, I aspire to go beyond conventional psychological practice, to make therapy a safe, just and liberating space for everyone.

I am looking forward to hearing from you

Take care
Mona
