Mona Laskar

Founder & MSc. in Clinical Psychology

Hi! My name is Mona Laskar and I am an anti-racist consultant, therapist, and coach based in Sweden. I earned a Bachelor and first-class Honour degree in Psychology from the University of Sunshine Coast in Australia and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Along with my academic background, I have received clinical training in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), anti-racist practice, and other leading psychotherapies for adults.

I was born in Borlänge, a small town in Sweden, and brought up in a Bengali family. I speak Swedish, Bangla, and English, and offer services in these languages. Coming from a multicultural background I have an in-depth understanding of many mental health challenges faced by people that are racialised as non-White in Sweden or South Asians in terms of cultural and social expectations. Finding adequate mental health support as a racialised person can sometimes also be challenging, as mainstream practice can lack diversity concerning cultural and spiritual practices and the influence of racism on the individual seeking help. As your coach, I want to help you overcome some of these challenges.

I am committed to creating a safe space where you feel respected, understood, and safe to explore your inner potential and challenges for healing, growth, and liberation. I use a compassion-focused and integrative coaching method tailored to each client’s personal needs, strengths, and goals. I also continue to decolonise my approach, reflect on my own biases, and keep myself informed by evidence-based practice to make my coaching a safer space for you.

Aside from coaching, I am a lecturer in anti-racism. My lectures and workshops raise topics challenging conventional views of racial diversity and inclusion by unpacking racism and power dynamics to aspire you to become an anti-racist practitioner within your field.

My aspiration with Laskar Consulting is to go beyond traditional psychological practice to make mental health services more accessible, diverse, and inclusive through anti-racist organising.

You will find my areas of specialisation under my picture.

I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Take care,
Mona
