Grief for Our Kind

Racism, a narrative unkind,

Twisted like veins through every system and soul it finds.

Its power thrives by dividing humankind,

Justifyfies oppression, at an ultimate price.

Our shared humanity, the connection that binds,

Stripped away by racism, a theft of pure insight.

Even in sorrow, racism’s grip is vile,

Making us question the mourning of our decreased child.

But where there's darkness, there's always light,

Deep within our hearts, it resides out of sight.

Crying out for compassion, love, and grief for our kind,

Yet we deny it, for the truth is too mighty to unbind.

But if we take a moment to hear each heartfelt display,

The humanity within us may find its own way.

Inch by inch, day by day, racism will slowly be replaced,

As a brave and soulful narrative will take its place.

And we shall witness the liberation of human race.
